## The VU meter is not offered for now

**The VU rows have been taken out of the menu on every model**, and the
right-knob hold that turned the meter on and off does nothing. A unit that
already had a style selected comes up with the meter off after this update.

This is deliberate and temporary: there is noise on the VU sense signals on the
preamplifier boards, and until that is fixed the meter should not be something a
unit can be talked into showing. Nothing has been removed — the selected style is
still stored, so it comes back with the meter when the meter comes back.

The volume screen is therefore the idle screen again on the PRE and INT.

## Remote control

**Each model now answers its own remote address.** Every Canta previously
responded to the same address, so a handset pointed at one unit in a rack
switched all of them. Noticed when a freshly-commissioned power amplifier
answered a preamplifier's handset.

The stereo power amplifier has no receiver fitted and now answers nothing at all,
rather than sharing the integrated's address. An uncommissioned unit — one with no
serial written yet — likewise answers nothing until it knows which model it is.

## Stereo power amplifier

**The two front-panel buttons have changed inside a setting.** The right button
now both enters a setting and changes it; the left button leaves it and returns to
the list. Previously those were the other way round. Stepping through the list and
the timeout that closes the menu are unchanged, and the left button still holds to
power off from any screen.

**POWERING OFF now stays up for 3 seconds** when the 12 V trigger drops, rather
than 1. At one second it read as a flicker on a shutdown you were not expecting,
which is the case the message exists for.

## VU meter (present, not currently reachable)

Both of these are in this firmware and will be visible when the meter is offered
again:

- A new **ARC** style: one wide, shallow moving-coil arc with a single pointer,
  left and right combined. About two and a half times the width of either of the
  paired dials, because a pointer pivoting below the screen spends the height on
  the depth of face on show instead.
- **Changing the style no longer leaves the previous one behind.** Selecting a
  style from the console or the config app repainted only the new meter's own
  area, so anything the outgoing style had drawn elsewhere stayed on the glass —
  and switching the meter off left the whole picture up. Opening the on-device
  menu and backing out had been the way to clear it.

## Notes

Settings are preserved across the update. No configuration changes are required.
